Information Visitors Provide
Search Terms
When a name, location, or other search detail is entered into a partner search tool, that query is sent to the outside provider operating the tool. Ionia County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or other message, the submitted contact details and message content may be kept long enough to review and respond. Those messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Information Collected Automatically
Routine technical data may be collected when pages load, including:
- IP address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- Referring website, when available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site use and improve performance. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, but some functions may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- To pass search requests to the appropriate partner service.
- To understand which pages help visitors most.
- To diagnose errors, broken links, and other technical problems.
- To support advertising that may be based on visitor interests.
Links and Outside Policies
This site links to Ionia County sheriff pages, jail information, MiCOURT, MDOC OTIS, VINELink, federal locators, public-record resources, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy and data practices apply.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and deliver interest-based ads. That activity occurs under the partner's controls, not through a public record system run by Ionia County.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold as a standalone customer list. It may be available to limited parties that help operate or legally protect the site.
- Search partners that process submitted lookup details.
- Analytics providers that measure site use.
- Advertising networks that support site operations.
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful demand requires disclosure.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used for site operations, but no internet-connected service can be promised as breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive personal details unless the receiving office or provider specifically requires them.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a deletion request can be sent for review.
Privacy Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal information held by the site.
- Request correction of inaccurate contact information.
- Request deletion where retention is not legally or operationally required.
- Opt out of certain processing when applicable law gives that right.
Public Records and Policy Updates
Records requested from Ionia County agencies may be governed by the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., rather than this site policy. This privacy policy may be updated from time to time, and changes take effect when posted here with a new effective date.
